Rebalancing your Auto-Immunity

A food first approach to regaining & supporting your health

There are over 80 different autoimmune conditions

Rebalancing Your Auto-Immunity

Examples are Rheumatoid Arthritis, Crohn’s disease, Hashimoto disease, Celiac Disease, Lupus, Inflammatory Bowel disease, Type 1 diabetes to name but a few, and the indications are that autoimmune conditions are on the rise. To complicate matters further, if someone has been diagnosed with one autoimmune condition, the possibility of developing another is increased.

Regardless of the autoimmune condition the initial focus is on reducing the inflammation and modulating the immune response. It is important to remember that we are all individual and one persons trigger for an autoimmune condition may be different to someone else.

Personalised nutrition focussing on functional medicine approaches aim to establish the underlying cause for the disease(s) and the associated inflammation. The main considerations are stress, hidden infections, leaky gut and nutrient deficiencies, food allergies/intolerances, toxins and genetic predisposition.

When supporting clients with a functional autoimmune condition, I assess the body as a whole to include a complete review of a patients health current and past, diet, environment and lifestyle. I aim to pick up on the root cause by using diagnostics that include blood chemistries, Lifecode Gx Nutrigenomic panels and gut microbiome analysis. My goal is to identify and address the triggers and underlying causes of your health problems rather than only working on your symptoms.

Clients that Amy has helped...

Amy Desborough is an experienced and accomplished nutritional therapist, as well as being a remarkable endurance athlete.

She has written for the Functional Sports Nutrition magazine (FSN) and presented webinars for the Centre for Integrative Sports Nutrition (CISN); I highly value her specialist input around female health and autoimmune conditions within a sporting context, and look forward to further interactions with her.

Ian Craig - Founder of CISN and editor of FSN

Pembrokeshire College has been working closely with Amy Desborough since October 2021, she has been a valuable support with her experience and expert advice to all staff at our Aspire day where she gave an insight on how best help your immune system during covid.

It was one of the most popular and well received sessions we've ever had. Amy is leading our menopause support group for staff, they meet monthly, as Health & Wellbeing Officer I can really see the benefits of being able to provide this service. She brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise, staff are really benefiting from her advice on their Menopause journeys.
