Why Nutritional Therapy?
Often you will find that those people who decide to embark on a journey into nutritional therapy, are themselves working on their own health. I am no different; with a history of digestive complaints in my 20’s I refocussed my career into one of nutritional therapy, where I discovered the wonders of food and how it can provide life changing results. “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food”. —Hippocrates is well known for this quote, and it couldn’t be more important than it is today. It is a quote that I live by especially following a subsequent autoimmune disease diagnosis.
Adapting my nutrition and lifestyle has enabled me to live well, and so I want to share this knowledge with you. Thus, I focus my support around autoimmunity, digestive health, inflammation and female health and how I can support those people who are struggling with their health but can’t find any answers.
My aim is to guide you in choosing the right foods for your health and body, and encourage lifestyle changes that will support well-being. In order to do this I will spend time getting to know you, your symptoms, lifelong health picture and your life load. I will assess and identify potential nutritional imbalances to understand how these may contribute to your symptoms and health concerns.
We are all unique and as such any recommendations will be personal to you as there is no ‘one size fits all’ approach, and I will ensure you are happy and aware of why I may be implementing any changes. Recommendations are not a replacement for medical advice; I frequently work alongside medical professionals to support individuals’ wellbeing but will always ask your permission prior to any such activity. As a BANT practitioner I do not diagnose or treat disease.
I may use functional tests to help me fully assess your health and enable me to make recommendations that are based on your unique biological individuality. This includes stool tests to assess for Small Intestinal Bacteria Overgrowth (SIBO), and gut dysbiosis, nutritional deficiencies, hormone profiles, metabolic markers and genomic profiles.
Where possible I will suggest testing via the GP.
